America’s 250th Photo Contest

By: Kayla Aristizabal

The Eye of the Beholder Photo contest is back for it’s 3rd year on display at the Jones Beach Energy and Nature Center August 20 - October 19. Founded by Micaylee Cassidy and Virginia Maloney, this annual photo contest welcomes photographers of all skill levels to showcase their creativity through photos.

With unique monthly themes, such as “On the Trails”, “Out on the Water”, and “Birds of Long Island”, the contest is a great way to get outside and capture the beauty of Long Island’s State Parks. Whether you are a seasoned photographer or just getting started, this is a fun and rewarding way to challenge your inner artist.  You also get the chance to be featured in the Eye of the Beholder photo exhibit!

To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding, we want to invite participants to celebrate USA’s history through their photography with July’s theme of “A Look Through History”. We encourage you to capture moments that reflect history, patriotism, and community. From the Long Island Region’s New York State Parks 250th celebration events, airshows, firework extravaganzas, and family traditions, there are countless ways to tell a story through your photos!

Grab your camera, get outside and capture history!
