Join us for a fun-filled event dedicated to raising awareness about our beloved Piping Plovers and other beach nesting shorebirds.

10:00am - 11:30am Plover Patrol Recommended Ages 7+

Join us for a fun-filled event dedicated to raising awareness about our beloved Piping Plovers. Join us for a 1.5 mile hike along the beach with our knowledgeable guides and learn all about these fascinating birds and their habitats.

Some binoculars provided, you are also welcome to bring your own.

11:30am-12:30 pm | Sharing the Shore with Beach Nesting Birds with Audubon New York

Each year shorebirds and seabirds travel to Long Island to nest along its beaches and islands. Learn about the six nesting shorebird and seabird species of our beaches, the threats they face during their nesting season and how guest can help in the conservation efforts to protect them.

1:30pm - 2:30pm | Plover Craft

Come and create a sign to help educate people about nesting shorebirds! We will have markers, crayons, and more to decorate with. You'll get to bring your craft home to show all of your plover pals.

Fee: Free | *Parking fees collected 6am-6pm across Jones Beach State Park. Empire Passes also accepted.

Outdoors/Indoors?: Indoors and Outdoors.

Weather: In the case of inclement weather, all activities will be indoors.

RSVP: Not required, but appreciated.
