Adults & Teens (Ages 12+) | Exhibit Opening
Welcome the arrival of an exhibit featuring the artwork of Indigenous artists, highlighting the impact of kelp on their past, present, and future. Enjoy light refreshments and explore the exhibit gallery as the sun sets over the beachfront.
The exhibit explores water access, traditional place names, and the Shinnecock relationship with the sea-from pre-contact traditions and singing to the kelp, to historical conflicts and contemporary environmental restoration. Made possible by collaboration with Ma’s House: BIPOC Art Studio, the Shinnecock Kelp Farmers, and funding from NPS Maritime Heritage Grant.
